Testing Approach according to Acceptable Quality Limit (AQL)

AQL stands for acceptable quality limit. It is a industry standard for quality inspections to determine whether the quality of a production batch is considered acceptable or not.

To put it into a nutshell: Inspectors select a defined sample size, classify defects as critical, major or minor, and compare the number of defects found against the allowed limits in the AQL table. If defects stay within those limits, the shipment passes; if they exceed them, it fails.

Here is an example of a AQL table:

Inspection levels decide how many samples you check:

  • GI (General Inspection I) = small sample size
  • GII (General Inspection II) = medium sample size
  • GIII (General Inspection III) = large sample size

So the final choice of the inspection level really depends on the order scope and quantity.

This one is a tricky question.
If we are only engaged with the quality inspection, we will report all of our findings to you. We will also submit an extensive report showing all defects and concerns, as well as a shared folder with all images we took. We surely also communicate all defects and concerns also to the manufacturer, so that they can pro-actively repair and fix these issues, or even replace parts or products. Our job typically ends there.
However, if requested we can also engage in the order and communicate with the factory on your behalf to find solutions for any issues.
